Kevin Bonavia MP
Member of Parliament for Stevenage, Knebworth, Codicote, Datchworth and Aston
At the General Election in July 2024, I was elected as the MP for the town I'm proud to call home. After 14 years of failure, I promised to put our community first again.
Since then I've been working hard to return the role to its founding purpose - public service. This website can be used to find out more about what I'm doing and how I can help you.
My background
I'm proud to call Stevenage my home, living off the High Street in Old Town. Growing up, my mum and dad instilled in me that if you see a problem, your roll up your sleeves, and you fix it.
Ever since, I tried to give back in the best way that I could. I became a solicitor and went on to represent victims of the phone-hacking scandal. I became a councillor, serving as an armed forces champion.
In every step of my life, public service ran through my DNA.
But I kept encountering problems that a lawyer or a councillor simply couldn't solve. So I stood to be the MP for the town I love - Stevenage, and its vibrant villages of Knebworth, Codicote, Datchworth and Aston. Since then, I've never looked back.
Becoming your MP
Following the General Election, it became the honour of my lifetime to represent our constituency.
Whether you voted for Labour, for another party or didn't vote at all, my message to you is clear. I was elected on a platform of returning the role of MP to its founding purpose - public service.
I take this responsibility seriously. I made a number of personal promises to you and I'm proud to report that I've made significant progress on some of them - but there is much more work to do.
I also stand ready to scrutinise our new government in delivering the change that our country needs after inheriting economic ruin and broken public services.
Making a strong start as your MP
It's up to me to prove myself to you. After being elected, I tried to make the strongest start.
My office inherited a serious casework backlog from the last MP. I've since held 14 advice surgeries, supporting over 500 residents with their local problems.
I've hired a full-time team to support me in my role, responded to thousands of policy enquiries, attended hundreds of events in the constituency and started to hold public meetings in our villages.
I've started a school trips to Parliament scheme, a programme of personal visits to every school, shop and business in the constituency and launched a cost of living toolkit to support residents this winter.
I've spoken up for our area in Parliament 32 times, voted 57 times, consulted local residents on their views towards changes and lobbied ministers to support our town and villages.
A strong presence at home and in Parliament
